Volunteering is a great way to become involved with Pilchuck. Volunteers are invited to special events and have many opportunities to see creativity in action. Volunteers are also celebrated during our Appreciation Event which includes hands-on activities and refreshments. This is our chance to thank you for helping make Pilchuck possible.

Volunteers play a critical role at Pilchuck. We simply could not do it without our wonderful group of volunteers.

Join us at any of the following activities and find your place within our community.

Campus Volunteer Staff— May through August
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
Though Pilchuck hires a summer staff, there are also several volunteer staff positions available while classes are in session. All materials are due February 4th. For further details, please contact Miranda Teel at , or call 360-445-3111 ext. 39.

Office Assistance—Ongoing Weekdays
Seattle office, Seattle, WA
We welcome volunteers to our Seattle office who can help with general administrative tasks.

Docent Training—TBD
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
Join our corps of docents who provide tours during Spring Group Tours and Open House. Learn all about Pilchuck’s rich history and where we’re headed. Also enjoy socializing with fellow volunteers, participating in a hands-on art project and snacks in the lodge.

Spring Group Tours—May
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
Spring Tours is a week of outreach and cultivation for groups. Tours present a rare opportunity for groups to visit Pilchuck and experience what we are all about. This event coincides with the creation of our auction centerpieces and is a great time to watch hot glass demonstrations. Volunteers act as docents touring through our beautiful campus, answering any questions, and sharing anecdotes.

Libenský Award Dinner—May
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
Help us honor the current Libenský award winner at this special gathering. Assist with the family-style dinner and reception, then enjoy the meal yourself in Pilchuck's lodge.

Auction Centerpiece Packing—May
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
The Annual Auction table centerpieces are created by the Poleturners Union and are the trademark of our annual gala auction. Work alongside this vibrant group of artists to catalogue and safely pack the centerpieces for storage. It’s a great time to be on campus and learn some of the tricks involved in packing glass art. Stay the whole day or help for a few hours. Lunch is served in the lodge for the whole crew.

Open House and Society Day—July
Pilchuck Campus, Stanwood, WA
Once a year Pilchuck opens its gates to the community and invites the public to tour the scenic campus. Open House features hands-on activities, guided tours, concessions, an art sale, artist demonstrations and live music. Help serve as an ambassador for Pilchuck by assisting in any of these activities and celebrate Pilchuck’s mission to inspire creativity and build community.

Pilchuck on Display—October
The Westin, Seattle, WA
Free and open to the public, this event offers visitors an unparalleled opportunity to view an array of more than 270 works of art created in glass. Help supervise the event or assist at our information and merchandise tables.

Annual Auction Gala—October
Participate in one of Seattle’s finest philanthropic events by volunteering for our signature auction and black-tie gala. Help us raise support for the school by acting as a greeter, art handler, bid-runner, auction closer, art packer, and much more. This is a great reason to dress up, join us for dinner in our special volunteer lounge, and enjoy a personal experience with the best glass collection in the world.

For more information about volunteering and specific dates please contact Special Events Assistant, Leah Oren at: , or by telephone at 206.621.8422, ext. 28.
