Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to become involved with Pilchuck Glass School. Volunteers are invited to special events and have many opportunities to see creativity in action. They are also celebrated during Pilchuck’s Volunteer Appreciation Event, which includes hands-on art activities and refreshments. This is our chance to thank you for helping to make Pilchuck possible.

Volunteers play a critical role at Pilchuck. We simply could not do it without our wonderful group of volunteers.

For more information about volunteering and for specific dates, contact Talia Silveri at 206.621.8422, ext. 28, or tsilveri@pilchuck.com.

Join us at any of the following activities and find your place within our community.

Office Assistance—Ongoing weekdays
Seattle office, WA
We welcome volunteers to our Seattle office who can help with general administrative tasks and special projects.

Pilchuck on Display—Thursday, October 17, 2013
The Westin, Seattle, WA
Free and open to the public, this event offers visitors an unparalleled opportunity to view more than 250 works of glass art. Help supervise the event or assist at our information and merchandise tables.

Annual Auction Gala—Friday, October 18, 2013
Participate in one of Seattle’s finest philanthropic events by volunteering for our signature auction and black-tie gala. Help raise support for the school by acting as a greeter, art handler, bid runner, auction closer, art packer, and much more. This is a wonderful reason to dress up, join us for dinner in our special volunteer lounge, and personally experience the best glass collection in the world.

Docent Training—TBD
Pilchuck campus, Stanwood, WA
Join our corps of docents, who lead tours during Spring Group Tours and Open House. Learn all about Pilchuck’s rich history and plans for the future. Spend time on the campus, socialize with fellow volunteers, and enjoy snacks in the lodge.

Spring Group Tours—May 7-14, 2013 (no tour May 12, Mother's Day)
Pilchuck campus, Stanwood, WA
Spring Tours take place during a week of outreach to groups that want to visit Pilchuck. The tours coincide with the creation of the Annual Auction Gala table centerpieces, which is a great time to watch hot-glass demonstrations. Escort guests through Pilchuck’s beautiful campus, answer their questions, and share anecdotes.

Auction Centerpiece Packing—TBD
Pilchuck campus, Stanwood, WA
The Annual Auction Gala table centerpieces are created by the Poleturners Union and are the trademark of our Annual Auction Gala. Work alongside this vibrant group of artists as they catalog and safely pack the centerpieces for storage. It’s an exciting time to be on campus and learn some of the tricks involved in packing glass art. Stay the whole day or help for a few hours. Lunch is served in the lodge for the whole crew.

Open House—July 14,  2013
Pilchuck campus, Stanwood, WA
Open House welcomes the public to Pilchuck for this once-a-year open campus event. Hands-on art activities, art sales, concessions and live music are available. This is a great opportunity to work alongside artists in educating the public about Pilchuck.
