Teaching Assistants assist instructors and acquire valuable experience while developing their own professional abilities as teachers or technicians. Previous TA experience at Pilchuck is helpful but not necessary.
Artist Assistants assist artists in residence and often serve as problem solvers in special working relationships shaped by the nature and style of the individuals involved. AAs must have previously attended Pilchuck in some capacity and should possess a broad range of glassworking skills.
TAs and AAs perform a valuable service for Pilchuck and participate in a leadership capacity during the summer program. All assistants must have extensive studio experience and an interest in collaboration. In exchange for their contributions, TAs and AAs receive housing and meals, store credit for supplies, studio access, and travel reimbursement limited to coach round-trip airfare from home plus shuttle cost to Pilchuck. TAs receive 60% travel reimbursement; AAs receive 100% travel reimbursement. Lodging and fuel expenses will not be reimbursed.
