Festive Events to Celebrate and Support Pilchuck Glass School

Seattle, WA - August 21, 2007 Considered the foremost event for collectors of contemporary glass art and the largest annual glass art auction in the world, Pilchuck's 29th Annual Auction will be held October 26 at The Westin Seattle, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The gala auction is the culminating evening in a week of events that draw collectors and artists from all over the world to Seattle.

Hundreds of artists who have taught, studied or created at Pilchuck have generously donated works that will be auctioned to benefit the school's artistic and educational programs. The donated art works will be on view during Pilchuck on Display: An Exhibition of International Glass Art, a one-night exhibition, October 25, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of The Westin Seattle. Free and open to the public this event offers visitors the opportunity to see the full breadth of contemporary art created with glass.

Pilchuck's Annual Auction is a celebration of the impact and enduring legacy of the school's artistic programs. Tickets for the gala begin at $225 per person. For more information please contact Carol Bobanick, (206) 621-8422 ext. 36, cbobanick@pilchuck.com.

Dale Chihuly, with the support of patrons Anne Gould Hauberg and John H. Hauberg (1916-2002), founded Pilchuck Glass School in 1971. Chihuly envisioned a retreat that would offer artists an opportunity to work with and learn about glass. Amid the spectacular beauty of the Pacific Northwest, Chihuly’s vision became a shared reality for thousands of artists and patrons throughout the world. In just thirty-six years Pilchuck has become the largest and most comprehensive international educational center for artists working in glass.
