In honor of Pride, Pilchuck Glass School is hosting a month-long exhibition in June to showcase the LGBTQIA+ identifying members of the glass community! Featuring ten artists, the collection stands as an exploration of visibility and the queer narrative in our ever-evolving society.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City, a pivotal turning point in the gay civil rights movement. Since June 28th, 1970, LGBTQIA+ identifying people have gathered to commemorate their struggles, recognize their successes, celebrate their sexual diversity and gender variance, and advocate for their communities.
“LGBTQIA+ Pride Month,” or what we now simply call “Pride”, is a sensation that takes place world-wide, celebrating the human right to live our truth, stand in the face of adversity, and continue to make strides towards societal liberation.
This juried exhibition will run June 6 - 28, 2019 at Pilchuck's Seattle Exhibition Space, located in Pioneer Square.
