Artists and designers are invited to submit design
proposals for Pilchuck’s 2008 Auction Centerpiece
Project and for Pilchuck’s 2008 Auction
Benefactor Gift Project. The chosen designers
will have the opportunity to explore new forms
and ideas using Pilchuck Glass School’s
facilities and to develop experience managing
a team with specific production goals.
Auction Centerpiece Project
The chosen designer or designers will work with
a team of 20 volunteers to produce 130 glass centerpieces
on the Pilchuck campus from May 2-16. Selected
designers will be awarded a $1,200 honorarium,
and receive outstanding exposure in auction publicity
and collateral materials and through various public
appearances. Room and board will be provided on
campus during production. Travel expenses to and
from campus will be reimbursed.
Auction Benefactor Gift Project
The chosen designer or designers will work with
a team to produce 180 glass gifts on the Pilchuck
campus from May 5-15. The selected designers will
be awarded an $800 honorarium and receive exposure
through a profile and photographs in our auction
catalog. Room and board will be provided on campus
during production. A small stipend is available
for travel expenses. This application process
is separate from the Auction Centerpiece Project,
but can be combined. Applicants are encouraged
to apply for both.
Artists/designers are asked to submit a proposal
with a proposed work plan. Each artist may submit
up to three designs. All proposals must be received
by February 16, 2008 by 5PM. A jury consisting
of the Auction Co-Chairs, Pilchuck Glass School
staff, artists and arts professionals will meet
and review all submissions and make their decision
no later than March 2, 2008.
