Benjamin Cobb was born
in Newport, Rhode Island. At the age of fourteen, he
began to work after school at a local glass shop. After
working for several years, he attended the School for
American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology,
where he received a bachelor’s degree in fine
arts under Michael Taylor, Robin Cass, and Frantisek
Janak. During his schooling, Ben was able to take numerous
classes at The Studio at the Corning Museum of Glass.
He also attended the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts
as a teaching assistant. Ben later moved to California
and worked in and around the San Francisco Bay Area
before relocating to Seattle. He is a lead gaffer at
the Museum of Glass in Tacoma.
