This vessel finds its
inspiration in the color sweeps and strokes of Jackson
Pollock’s painting. In this piece, each of the
blues mixes and contrasts with the other, giving the
piece an added illusion of depth beneath the surface
of the glass. Domenico Cavallaro was first introduced
to glass through a stained glass class in Stowe, Ohio.
He soon moved to Columbus, where he honed his talent
at Glass Axis, a non-profit studio, while continuing
his business studies. Cavallaro was accepted at the
Centro Studio Vetro in Venice and studied under master
Pino Signoretto. Fluent in both Italian and English,
he found his niche as a student and a much-needed translator.
During Cavallaro’s first year at Pilchuck, he
assisted some of the great masters and recently assisted
and translated for master Davide Salvadore at Glass
Axis and the Pittsburgh Glass Center.
