Takuya Tokizawa

Cone Bud Vase
14h x 5d. Signed. 2001.
$243

Glass.

This series of work is inspired by a kind of Japanese soda bottle called ramane. A ramane bottle has a glass ball inside that functions as a cap and also as a decorative element. In Japan, this soda bottle is popular among both adults and children. Its influence led the artist to create works that not only focus on the outside of a piece but also explore the decorative possibilities of the inside. Takuya Tokizawa was born and educated in Japan. Since moving to Seattle in 1998, he has worked with various glass artists such as David Levi, John de Wit, Janusz Pozniak, and Dante Marioni. He has participated at Pilchuck as a teaching assistant, scholarship student, and member of the Poleturners Union.
